What is included in your basketball tuition fee?
The components included in our fee is gym rental fees, strength and conditioning program, league fees, out-of-country insurance, travel to games and tournaments, and hotel costs. Physiotherapy is NOT included.
What are the living arrangements for the players?
LBA players will live with local families. They will have comfortable living accommodations which includes nutritious meals, a dedicated quiet area for studying, and a caring family.
How will players get to school/practice every day?
LBA will provide transportation to school and team events. In limited circumstances, where there are short distances to travel, players may opt to walk or take public transit.
Do you have dedicated ‘study time’ for the players?
Yes, our weekly and monthly schedules include ample opportunity for completion of homework and assignments.
Can you describe their living conditions and expectations?
Each player may be required to complete small chores consistent with current host family expectations (i.e. own laundry, take out garbage, keep personal space clean). Players will also be expected to follow curfew rules which will vary depending on the host family and athletic schedule.
Will there be opportunities for my son to return home on weekends?
There will be numerous opportunities for players to travel home on weekends where there are no scheduled tournaments. All travel expenses are NOT included in LBA accommodation or team fees. An effort will be made to provide transportation to and from the train (or bus) station, however in limited circumstances players may be expected to provide their own transportation.
What does LBA provide in cases where extra academic support is required?
Players are encouraged to seek extra help with their teachers during the lunch period or before school.
What is LBA’s philosophy for ensuring my son’s academic success?
LBA will provide individualized timetables for each player. Timetables will reflect the needs, strengths, and weaknesses of each player. Teachers will be encouraged to contact our coaching staff when there are any outstanding assignments where LBA will remove players from practice until all assignments are up-to-date. It is the parents’ responsibility to maintain contact with each teacher to stay informed about their sons’ current academic standing.
What are my expectations to ensure my son is academically qualified to attend a NCAA school?
It is a parent’s responsibility to register for ‘NCAA Eligibility’ by the beginning of the junior (grade 11) year. The NCAA will ensure that your son has completed the required core courses for NCAA Division 1 and 2 institutions. It is the responsibility of our counselors to ensure the completion of coursework for the Ontario Secondary.
